This is a shameless plug.
Yesterday morning I took a look at the weather gizmo on this computer, and when I got down to the part that shows the phases of the moon, my bifocals didn't quite do the job they were supposed to do and what I read was "waxing gibbons"! Of course, what it really said was "waxing gibbous", and I got a big kick out of it. It's one of the fun things about getting older, you know, all the goofy stuff you see when you can't see right.
When I was a kid I would have said, "Hey, that's a great name for a rock band!" But now I see things a little bit differently, no pun intended. Instead, I thought to myself, (who else would I think to?

) "What a great name for a blog!"
Pretty soon I decided I better grab that name and so I went to WordPress and started a new blog called "
Waxing Gibbons". At first I didn't know what kind of blog I should write; I already have a blog where I write a lot about Bibles and Bible study, and other Christian themes, which has the humorous title of "
The Sundry Times". I decided quickly that with a title like Waxing Gibbons it
had to be a humor blog. So I found a theme I liked, a banner for the header (an old school bus, which I really liked for the incongruity) and started writing.
So come on over to Waxing Gibbons at
http://waxinggibbons.wordpress.com and join me in enjoying the funny parts of life!
